Octodad was created by Alex Rubin, who is an undergraduate computer science major at the University of Southern California. His initial plan was to create an application that would allow people with disabilities to enjoy games on the Internet. Instead, it grew into a game called Octodad. After realizing its potential, he moved on and created a much better game that still allowed people to enjoy the full experience of playing the game. With a bit of help from Microsoft, he was able to make the whole thing possible and he has now brought this wonderful software to the masses.
A free game for both Windows and Macintosh. (This is probably the first commercially available free student application). Octodad is an action-packed, third person, adventure game about deceit, destruction, and fatherhood. The game revolves around the character of Octo, a cunning octopus who masques himself as an average, loving human. After a disastrous day in the office, Octo decides to take his family out for the day. But he gets so caught up in his plan to get home early to cook dinner for his family and himself, that he ends up destroying the house and leaving his wife and child stranded in it.
Octodad allows you to play the game as either Octo or his son Daxter. As Octo, you play as his son who's in the same predicament and as Daxter, he acts as his ally. This is because they both are searching for a way out of their predicament. Both characters have different attributes and abilities that allow them to solve various puzzles in their environment. They also interact with other characters through text messages, emails, and instant messaging.
